CBD Hybrids

Engineering of hybrid proteins containing cellulose-binding domains (CBD) – Novel biotechnological tools for pulp, paper and textile industry.

The EU-project aims at designing, producing and testing novel hybrid constructs based on the fusion of CBD’s with specific functional groups or enzymes to be applied in the pulp and paper and textile industry. A set of new constructs have been designed and also produced to be tested on pilot-plant scale. The specific role of CBD’s in manipulating and modifying fibres is being studied, and the results of these studies are used in further designing fibre-modifying enzymes and chemicals.
