Students
are welcome!
Did you know that today your newspaper is made
with an average speed of 80 -100 km/hour? And that over 75% of the used
paper is being recycled and used as a valuable raw material for new paper
and board applications? And that the process of papermaking is a combination
of chemistry, machine technology, chemical and enzyme technology and
application techniques?
Interested in
the backgrounds of the papermaking process? Looking for interesting research
work? Within different research projects or as part of our strategic
research, there are possibilities for national and international students to
do research work as a part of the educational programme. This could be
realised as a short term (e.g. 3 months) project up to a one year thesis
work for bachelor (HBO) and university students. We have fully equipped
laboratories and trained staff. Students will be coached by professional
researchers and there are also possibilities to get in contact with
industrial paper mills in The Netherlands when necessary. If you want to
know how much fun an internship at Wageningen UR can be, read
here
about
the experiences of a Spanish student.
The Paper and Board research group consists
of a number of relatively young people, based in Wageningen (centrally
located in The Netherlands). It is easy to find nice and affordable rooms
for students in Wageningen and students are offered a small monthly grant
for their work. For more information on the different
projects currently going on, see the projects
page.
